So, to review...

First, a major disaster at Petie's host. Massive power outage, took out all the sites for a while. Bad enough, but supposedly temporary. The sites themselves survived.

Then, we were told that, while the sites were still there, the databases were not. Not good. However, they had those sitting around from old backups, so all should be well.

In theory. While Petie's host DID restore some of our databases, one really rather key, important database happened to be missing. Yes, the girl/robot Wordpress database. Meaning that, sadly, all the nice comments regarding g/r that Petie ever collected are now lost forever, which sent him spiralling into depression so badly that he couldn't bear to yeah it was the Ask Dr. Science database.

Petie's asked his host about this a couple times. To date, he still doesn't have an answer. Which is considerably bad. Worse, the most recent backup of the database WE happen to have comes from over two years ago, back when I needed a backup to work into Beakertron 2.0, which, yes, is still stalled.

What this means is that unless Petie's host finally gets back to him and has the database handy, we've lost the past two years or so of ADS. And that's terrible. And even if that's all we have, we also need one of us with the time to restore the old backup (probably me, since I was the one who ran it in the first place). I'm HOPING the answer is "the host gets the database back".

I know Petie promised we'd return, and we're still hoping to get something back up and running eventually. Just don't be surprised if we're missing a lot.

But please, DO be surprised if we're back up with Beakertron 2.0. That'd surprise me, even.
